Support for non-Chinese speaking students’ educational needs

  • Our kindergarten provides appropriate support for non-Chinese speaking students, helping them to learn Chinese and thus building a multi-cultural and inclusive environment.
  • A different learning and activity model will be provided for non-Chinese speaking students. Special activities are arranged to help them merge with local students and enhance their sense of belonging to the school. Besides, teachers will organise small group teaching sessions with games and various teaching materials for students to gain first-hand experiences in learning basic concepts. Teachers will also provide a stress-free setting for students to improve on their Chinese speaking ability; measures include dialogue reading programme which allows teachers and non-Chinese speaking students to read Chinese books together with games, aiming to improve students’ Chinese listening, speaking and reading capacity.
  • Teachers and social workers will work together in helping parents of non-Chinese speaking students, aiming to establish communication between non-Chinese speaking parents and the local community. We hope it can help these non-Chinese speaking families become part of our society and strengthen the cooperation between family and school.
  • The Education Bureau provides various teaching services for non-Chinese speaking students, aiming to encourage and support them (especially ethical minority groups) to merge with the local community.
